Penobscot Art Pam outdusis Cunningham Hand-stitched Wool Container
Master weaver Pam outdusis Cunningham anticipates the day when black ash will not be available because of the emerald ash borer beetle. She has been working with other materials such as wool as a replacement for traditional ash baskets. She hand-stitches hand-dyed wool and adorns it with appliqué and embroidery.
This wool basket is fashioned after traditional birch bark containers that were traditionally used by Wabanaki people to collect maple syrup. Blueberries on a stem adorn the outside.
