Penobscot Art Pam outdusis Cunningham Corn Wabanaki Basket
From an extensive basket collection, we present a multi-color corn basket woven from ash with touches of sweetgrass by Penobscot artist Pam Cunningham in 2006. The colors of this basket approximate the deep reddish and dark blue colors found on some varieties of specialty corn. Fruit and vegetable baskets have long been popular among Wabanaki basket weavers. The curl is a traditional Wabanaki weave style that adds texture to the baskets.
