JJ Otero Cornstalk Earrings
JJ Otero is a musician and artist of Navajo and Hopi ancestry. He is a woodworker who makes inlaid objects such as boxes and cradle boards. While metalsmithing is a recently discovered endeavor for him, he is a natural. He designs and makes beautiful designs inscribed with words inspired by the contemporary resistance movement.
Otero’s musical career spans over a decade. The Resistance Rock group he leads, Son of Hweeldi, has been nominated for a NAMY (Native American Music Awards) and won the best of new rock album award in the New Mexico Music awards in 2014.
