Scrimshaw bowhead whale
This exquisite scrimshaw bowhead whale was purchased in 1967. While it may have been carved by an Alaskan Eskimo, we cannot readily identify it as such. As such, we cannot guarantee this item was made by an Eskimo.
The old walrus ivory is likely a broken piece of an ancient artifact, such as a sled runner. Ivory is 4 1/4″ x 1 1/4″. Attached wooden base is 6″ x 1 3/4″ d x 3/4″ high.
