Vintage Alaskan Eskimo/Inuit Ivory Scrimshaw Seal
This seal, made from walrus tusk, bears the signs of hand carving, with tool marks evident all around. The ink markings are delicately applied.
2 inches long x 1/2 inch wide, x 3/8 inch high
This item, along with many more, came out of the collection of the late Russell McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin spent several years in Alaska in the early 1950s, where he collected hundreds of pieces of Eskimo/Inuit artwork and artifacts.
