Ancient Thule Ivory Female Figure
This ancient ivory carving has been identified by previous owners as originating during the Thule period, which lasted hundreds of years in the Arctic areas of the world, from Alaska through Greenland. The last of the Thule communities are said to have lasted until the 1800s. The Thule people are generally recognized as ancestors of the Inuit people.
While they are worn, eyes and nose are still recognizable.
Figure is 1 5/8 in.high x 5/8 in. wide x 3/16 in. deep. On the removable stand, the figure is 2 1/4 inches high.
