Wabanaki Basket Maker Jeremy Frey Urchin Basket
This urchin basket was made in 2008. While the urchin has been portrayed by Wabanaki basket makers since at least the late 1800s, Frey’s version is as striking as they get. This basket is in immaculate condition; the purple and black dyes are just as deep as they were when the basket was made.
And yes, we do have purple sea urchins along the coast of Maine.
Frey’s signature finial completes the design.
10 1/2 inches diameter x 5 1/2 inches high, to the top of the fixed finial.
