Vintage Hooper Bay Basket – Flowers
This grass basket was acquired by a woman who lived in Hooper Bay, Alaska in the early 1970’s. It is woven from both natural color and dyed grasses in the tradition of the Yup’ik weavers from the Hooper Bay area.
The natural grass has a nice golden patina acquired over 40 + years. There is minor fading in the flowers, as evidenced in the image showing the color of the flower inside the basket. There is also very minor loss of grass on the bottom of the basket, as seen in that image.
