Vintage Alaskan Eskimo Ivory Carved Animal Bracelet

An Alaskan Eskimo bracelet made with old walrus tusk (often called fossil ivory), on which have been carved a number of animals: two sled dogs, two seals, a walrus, and a bowhead whale. The ivory has developed a lovely golden patina from being buried in the mud.

The tool marks on the animal carvings indicate a use of hand tools, dating the bracelet to ca. 2nd to 3rd quarter of the 20th century.

Inside circumference is approximately 5 1/2 inches, which will be comfortable for a wrist of up to approximately 5 inches. Bracelet is 9/16 inches high. Elastic has been very recently replaced, as it tends to deteriorate with age.
