Theresa Secord: maize basket (large).
Theresa Secord was founding Director of the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance. Under her leadership, and with the help of many senior basket makers, the organization helped to revive the art of basket making in Maine.
This corn basket has highlights of dark blue and maroon kernels, which complement the natural ash quite nicely. The fringes cut in the “corn silk” are a great touch.
Corn ear is 6 1/4″ l; 15″ long including the silk. 1 3/4″ diameter
