This is a very fine sculpture by Cape Dorse artist Pudlalik Shaa, son of famed artist Axangayuk Shaa. Pudlalik chose a stone with very interesting markings, to create a dramatic drummer with exquisite detail. Note the drape of the parka’s hood, the texturing of the hair, and the delicate facial features.
