Passamaquoddy Weaver Theresa Neptune Gardner Wabanaki Round Basket Purple
From 2003 comes this beautifully colored basket with a diagonal weave and braided sweetgrass. Theresa Neptune Gardner was one of three well-known weaving sisters, the other two being Clara Keezer and Angela Barnes. The sisters maintained the art of basket making among the Wabanaki people of Maine through the years when many others abandoned it. As a result, they became active members of the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance and lived to see a revival of their beloved art.
The basket is in excellent condition and still has the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance tag attached.
