Rain Scott, from Acoma Pueblo, makes baskets from folded paper, origami style. While his technique is new and innovative, he pays tribute to the traditions of his people both in form (olla) and in design. The bronze colored paper contrasts beautifully with the clean white.
In the center of the base is a floral blossom shape that protrudes into the vase – a beautiful addition to the overall aesthetic of the vessel
Note: the folded paper, made from card stock, creates a rigid form, so this vessel will keep its shape and should allay any concerns about fragility of the vessel.
