Once in a while, we come across a double bracelet made from walrus tusk with nicely carved animals. These double bracelets are uncommon and difficult to come by. While it is not signed, most of these carved items originated with the Inupiaq people. Ca. mid-twentieth century
This bracelet, carved from old (sometimes called fossil) ivory and fresh ivory, includes a sled dog team with nine dogs one one level; on the other level are a bear, two whales, a seal, a walrus, and a dog (or wolf).
Bracelet is 1 1/4 inches wide; inside circumference is approximately 6 1/2 inches. The elastic is in good condition.
