Early 20th Century Birch Bark Container
This marvelous container is etched with a moose, clover, tree, and geometric designs. It was made ca. the early 1900s, likely by a Penobscot artist. Deerskin handles.
The wooden rim as well as the container itself are lashed with spruce root, whose deterioration has caused some loss.
13 inches in diameter x 17 1/2 inches high.
