Covered, etched birch bark basket
$320.00
Beautifully designed and executed, this birch bark basket is by Barry Dana, an ex-chief of the Penobscot tribe and a respected guide, teacher, and lecturer.
A long-eared creature is etched on one side. On the other, there is a leafy design atop a wigwam, which itself sits above a modified double curve design. The darker winter bark has been removed to create these traditional designs.
Stitched with spruce root. Leaves adorn the cover, which is also stitched with porcupine quills.Read more about the uses of birch bark by Native Americans.
