What a laid-back bear! Carved from grey stone by Puvurnituk (Povungnitok) artist Abraham Niaquq, born in 1938. We tend to attribute human attributes to bears, and this bear looks like it’s ready to down a beer and have a chat.
8 1/2 inches long x 7 1/2 inches wide x 8 inches high. Weighing in at almost 12 pounds, this is a substantial sculpture in a compact package.
Carved in 1981, as recorded on the sculpture’s igloo tag.
