For the last five years of her life, Napachie Pootoogook documented memories from her childhood through hundreds of drawings. She wanted to preserve these memories in drawings so the cultural memories would not be lost.
“This is Wild Allikaluk who was very muscular. Here she is using the tent for a boat and it is filled with Qijutaat (moss) to make it floatable.” (note: Allikaluk was a shaman.)
