Erica Menard, Penobscot artist, apprenticed with her cousin Theresa Secord, founding director of the Maine Indian Basketmakers Alliance. Ms. Secord taught her well, as Erica has become a fine weaver in her own right.
This basket has a good quantity of braided sweetgrass, a time-consuming process that adds a lot of beauty to the finished product.
Materials: black ash, sweetgrass, dyes.
7 inches diameter x 3 1/4 inches high.
