Vintage 5 strand Tsikewa (attr.) necklace – Kewa – Santo Domingo
$1,400.00
A five strand Zuni fetish necklace attributed to the Tsikewa family. While not signed, the style and size of the animals, the shell heishi, and the clasp, point to an origin within the family, likely a child of David and Mary Tsikewa.
Multiple birds and bears are carved from serpentine, shell, and abalone in muted shades; orange spiny oyster shell carvings brighten up the lot. Small shell heishi provide the backdrop and connections for the carvings.
Necklace is 25 inches long; circa 4th quarter 20th century.
