Pudlo Pudlat Caribou in Northern Lights
$800.00
[title text=”Pudlo Pudlat Caribou in Northern Lights” link=”” link_text=””]:
2016 Cape Dorset Spring Release
This print, released from the Kinngait Studios archives in 2016, the 100th anniversary year of Pudlo Pudlat's birth, was created in 1987. The caribou, colorful in its own right, is surrounded by streaks of more color, representing the Northern Lights.
Northern Lights are more frequently visible in Arctic and sub-Arctic regions than in other parts of the world; as such, they are a common theme in both graphic depictions as well as sculptural representations. Most of us can only imagine a young man witnessing the Northern Lights as he stalked the caribou!
Overall, this is a very cheerful yet evocative print.
Lithograph on Somerset White
Printer: Pootoogook Qiatsuk
19 3/4″ x 25 3/4″
