Hooper Bay Dance Fans
These dance fans came from an estate of a gentleman who lived in Alaska during the late 1990s and early 2000s. They are woven from both natural color and dyed grasses in the tradition of the Yup’ik weavers from the Hooper Bay area. The woven fans are surrounded by caribou fur, which provides the swaying movement as the village women move their arms in the traditional dances.
Fans are each approximately 13 inches across and 11 inches high.
