Penobscot weaver Ganessa Frey creates corn baskets in a variety of designs. This rendition of Indian corn looks like it’s on fire, hence our name we’ve given it. The oranges and yellows of the body, combined with the graduated blending of the black and colors on the leaves just give us an impression of fire. There is a touch of sweetgrass around the rim.
The tightly woven basket has a great presence; it needs to be seen in person to be appreciated.
