Clare Gabriel is daughter of famed Passamaquoddy weaver Mary Gabriel. Clare’s sisters Deborah still weaves today; sister Sylvia passed away in the early 2000s.
Here w present a charming black ash and sweetgrass purse in the shape of an acorn. Made in the 1990s to early 2000s, it has a lovely patina of gold. The latch on the side keeps it closed; the large hoop on the cover provides a comfortable handle.
The basket will lay on its side when placed on a flat surface. The photo that shows it upright is using a small base.
There is a worn but legible signature on the bottom of the basket
4 1/2 inches diameter at its widest; 6 1/4 inches high. Handle is 4 inches in diameter.
