Vintage ivory figure with scrimshaw

Max Ungarook was an Inupiat from Barrow, Alaska. This vintage female figure, which probably dates from the 1950’s or 1960’s is carved from a whale tooth. Delicate scrimshaw adds life to the carving.

The woman was originally holding something, which has been long lost.
