Vintage Baleen Basket Herbert Koonuk Eskimo Art
Baleen baskets are among the most difficult to weave because of the stiffness of the material. This dark baleen basket was woven by Inupiaq artist Herbert Koonuk. Bear and seal carved from walrus tusk constitute the finial.
Basket is 3 1/2 inches in diameter x 4 inches high to the top of the finial. The basket is signed HK inside the cover.
