Artist’s Statement:

“I have created many guardian figures over the course of my career covering a wide range of topics and symbols. One of the things that occurred to me was that we as a society need more strong female symbols. Historically the home was a female domain, but how far back does that history go? What about matrilineal societies? In the process of thinking about this topic and all the many questions that arise, I created this female guardian figure. It is an eagle watching over a home. In the wings there are two faces that are the source of strength for the eagle. The faces are sisters.”
